Help! Instructions for using MinnesotaPlaylist.com
Reading, browsing and searching magazine articles, news, classified ads, talent profiles, and performances is free and requires no login to MinnesotaPlaylist.com. To post your own classified ad, talent profile, performance, or comment requires a login. Posting comments and performances is free! Posting talent profiles and classified ads requires payment online. Visit our prices page for more details. Visit our contact page to ask us a question.
To log in
- Click the "Log in or register" link in the upper right corner of the orange banner across the top of the home page.
- If you have a login, enter your user name and password to login.
- If you can't remember your username or password, click the "Request new password" tab along the top of the white part of the page. You can enter either your username or your email address to have a new password emailed to you.
- If you don't have a login yet, click the "Create new account" tab along the top of the white part of the page. You'll need to enter a username and email address that have not yet been used on this site. Then click "Create new account" and an activation link will be emailed to you.
To post a new classified advertisement
- Log in to MinnesotaPlaylist.com. Once you are logged in, you should see a link on the left side of the page that says "Post a classifed ad" - click this link.
- This link will take you to a page where you can fill out the classified ad information. VERY IMPORTANT: None of the information you enter in this page will be saved until you click the "Submit" button all the way on the very bottom of the page. If you don't finish filling out your profile, you can click "Submit" to save it and publish it when it's complete later.
- Type in the headline, which is required.
- Click "Advertisement" to open up the section where you select the ad type and enter the body of the ad.
- To select an ad type (which is required), select one from the list and click "Add". You may select more than one ad type. Select one and click "Add". Repeat for each type.
- Click "Contact Information" to open up the section where you enter your contact details, including organization, contact person, phone, email and web site. Only the email address is required.
- Click "Multimedia" if you would like to add images or PDF files to your advertisement.
- Finally, when you have your ad the way you want it, click "Preview" to see what it will look like, or click "Submit" to save it.
- At this point your ad has been saved but not published to the site for the public to see it. To publish the ad, you'll need to pay for it online through PayPal. Once you've saved your ad (by clicking "Submit"), you should see three tabs along the top of the page. One says "View" for viewing the ad; one says "Edit" for making changes to the ad; and the last one says "PayPal Publish." Click the "PayPal Publish" tab to go to PayPal and pay for your advertisement. You'll need to create an account with PayPal, which is one of the easiest, safest payment technologies on the Web. Once you submit your credit card payment, your ad will be published and made visible to the public on MinnesotaPlaylist.com.
To edit, publish, or renew a classified advertisement after it has been saved, published, or expired
- Log in to MinnesotaPlaylist.com. Once you are logged in, if you have already posted a classified ad, you should see a link on the left side of the page that says "My classified ad(s)." Click this link to go to a list of your classified ads.
- Click the ad title in the list that you'd like to edit.
- Once you are taken to the page with your ad on it, there will be three tabs along the top of the page: "View," "Edit," and "PayPal Publish." Click "View" to view how your ad will look. Click "Edit" to change your ad. Click "PayPay Publish" to pay for your ad and publish it if you haven't published it yet. You may also click this link to re-publish an expired ad.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to click "Submit" at the very bottom of the page to save your changes!
To post a new talent profile
- Log in to MinnesotaPlaylist.com. Once you are logged in, if you don't have a talent profile yet, you should see a link on the left side of the page that says "Post a talent profile" - click this link. (If you already have a profile, you will see a link that says "Post another talent profile," which you may do - you can have as many profiles as you like, though most people only need one.)
- The link will take you to a page where you can fill out your talent profile information. VERY IMPORTANT: None of the information you enter in this page will be saved until you click the "Submit" button all the way on the very bottom of the page. If you don't finish filling out your profile, you can click "Submit" to save it and publish it when it's complete later.
- Type in your full name or stage name or nickname or whatever you'd like to be displayed at the top of your profile, which is required.
- Click "Identity information" to open up the section where you will enter your first and last name as well as your headshot. The first and last name are required (even though you've already entered a display name) for sorting lists and for people looking for you by first or last name.
- To add a photo of you, click the "Browse" button below the "Headshot" area. Select a photo file from your computer. Your photo file must be a jpeg, gif or png file, it's name must have a ".jpg" ".jpeg" ".gif" or ".png" extension, and it must be no larger in file size than 500 K. Once you have selected your photo file, click the "Upload" button below the image instructions to add the photo to your profile.
- Click "Contact Information" to open up the section where you enter your contact details, including email, phone, and web site. Only the email address is required.
- Click "General information" to open up the section where you indicate what category(s) of talent profile you want, information about your availability, any unions you are a member of, and organizations you are affilitated with.
- Click "Background" to enter the type of information that usually goes on a resume: education, training, experience, awards, goals, etc.
- Click "Onstage specifics" only if you are a performer to enter much more details about your performance skills.
- Click "Offstage specifics" only if you have non-performance skills you'd like to include.
- Click "Multimedia" if you would like to add images, PDF files, links to videos, or links to audio files to your profile.
- Finally, when you have your profile the way you want it, click "Preview" to see what it will look like, or click "Submit" to save it.

To post a performance
- Log in to MinnesotaPlaylist.com. Once you are logged in, you should see a link on the left side of the page that says "Post a show." Click this link.
- This link will take you to a page where you can fill out the show information. VERY IMPORTANT: None of the information you enter in this page will be saved until you click the "Submit" button all the way on the very bottom of the page. If you don't finish filling out everything, you can click "Submit" to save it and come back and finish it later.
- Enter your company's name in the "Presented by" box and the title of your show in the "Title" box.
- Enter dates and times, individually, in each of the boxes below. Initially, you are given enough boxes for only four performances. Each time you click "Preview" or "Submit" at the bottom of the page, more blank boxes will be displayed for you to use if you need them.
- Fill in the remaining boxes below.
- Click "Attached Images" to upload a promotional photo for your show. If you have already uploaded a photo in the past for another show that you'd like to use again, you may select it from the "Existing Image" box. Or to upload a new photo, click "Browse" and select a photo file from your computer. Once you've selected a file, you may enter a title for future reference (in case you want to use this photo again).
- Finally, when you have your profile the way you want it, click "Preview" to see what it will look like, or click "Submit" to save it.
- Performance listings are free, so your performance should be visible to the public as soon as you click "Submit."
To edit a performance that has already been published
- You can only edit performances that you posted.
- Log in to MinnesotaPlaylist.com using the login you used when you posted the show.
- Click the "Performances" link from the main menu along the top of the page.
- Find your show in the list and click the link to it.
- If you are logged in with the same username that posted this show, you will see two tabs along the top of the white part of the page. Click the "View" tab to see what your performance listing looks like, and click the "Edit" tab to make changes.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to click "Submit" at the very bottom of the page to save your changes!
